"Hey PoRkki Muruga"

Yes!

How did I forget lime and salt, when drinking Tequila?
Only, if I was already under the influence of my beloved's salty tamizh lips, I wud have forgotten :)

Drums!

மேலே படத்தைப் பாருங்க! தட்டைப் பறை;

Abstraction in Poetry

(Poetical Abstraction)

* பறை = இசைக்கருவி
* பறை = அதில் படியளந்து பெறும் கூலி
* பறை = "எனக்கு-அவனே" என்ற பேரின்பக் கூலி! = பேறு

  10. avant garde post.

    But all cant be said categorically. No one knows in which caste she was born. A fair guess may be that the parent or the parents who deposited the baby near or inside the nursey of Periyaazhvaar, made a good homework before doing that act.

    The person knew clearly that Periyaazhwaar and his spouse were childless couple longing for a baby and be sure that they would bring up the baby lovingly, which Periyaazhwaar indeed did.

    It would not be possible to accept the view that a low caste person would have dropped the baby there, coz the nursey (nanthavanam) was in agraharam, and in those days, no low caste would venture inside it.

    Most probably, the baby was born to the brahmin woman or some upper caste.

    To be on your side, we may say, some daring lower caste sneaked into the agraharam at night and dropped the baby. Coz, the Guruprambara Prabhavam says he found the baby early in the morning. The brahmins were early risers; and no doubt, Periyaazhwar saw the baby at the break of dawn when he went to pluck flowers. Further, the panchamars were allowed inside to undertake some essential cleaning work on daily basis, and as such, could know the people there.

    Whoever she is, and is not, her liberal use of the word Parai supports your view. You are enjoying yourself I notice !

    //இது வரைக்கும் நூலார் சொன்ன வகையில் பறையென்றால் கைங்கர்யம்//

    மோட்சம் என்பதும் கைங்கர்யம் என்பதும் ஒன்று தானே குமரன்? (வைணவ நெறிப்படி)! "அந்தமில் பேரின்பத்து அடியவர்களுடன் கூடி" - அதானே திருவாய்மொழி காட்டும் மோட்சம்?

    //என்ற பொருளை மட்டுமே புரியாமல் நினைவில் வைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்//

    கைங்கர்யமும் அவன் தரும் பேறு தானே?
    நூலார்/சம்பிரதாய ஆசாரியர்கள் சொன்னது, is kinda thelogical extension! ஆனால், கோதையின் தமிழ்க் கவிதையாக மட்டும் பார்த்தால், பறை = "பேறு"/கூலி

    பதிவில் சொன்னதை இன்னொருகா வாசிங்க ராஜேஷ்! ஈசி தான்! உங்களுக்கே புரிஞ்சிரும்! நம்ம கோதை தானே!

    பதிவின் சாராம்சம் என்னன்னா:
    1.பறை என்பது அவள் காட்டும் மறைக்கரு,(Poetic Abstraction)
    2. பல பொருள்களைக் காட்டுவது போல் காட்டி, ஒரே அடித்தளப் பொருள் = பேறு/கூலி!
    3. இசைக்கருவி->அதனால் அளக்கும் கூலி->பேறு/இன்பம்

    //சால பெரும் பறை, பல்லாண்டு இசைப்பாரே//

    2. அடுத்த பாட்டில் (27), Zoom செய்து, கோவிந்தா, உன் தன்னைப் பாடிப் "பறை" கொண்டு யாம் பெரும் சன்மானம்-ன்னு, கூலி/சன்மானமாச் சொல்லுறா பாருங்க!
    3. உடனே அதுக்கடுத்த பாட்டில் (28), "உறவேல்" ஒழிக்க ஒழியாது, இறைவா நீதாராய் "பறை"யேலோ-ன்னு, அவன் உறவு-இன்பத்தைச் சொல்லி, பறை=பேறு ன்னு நிலை நாட்டுறா!

    அதே Camera Trick தான்!

    குருபரம்பரைப் பிரபாவம், அவள் பூமி தேவியின் அம்சமாகத் தானாய்த் தோன்றினாள்-ன்னு கூடத் தான் சொல்லும்! அது சமய நோக்கில் சொல்வது! We can be realistic and religious - both together! :)

    //The brahmins were early risers;//

    இன்றும் உழவர்களும், ஆயர்களும் தான் Early Risers! :)
    பிராமணர்களுக்கு வெறும் பிரம்ம முகூர்த்தம் தான்!
    உழவர்களோ அதுக்கும் முன்னதாக, கழனியில் உழச் செல்வார்கள், தெரியும் அல்லவா? நடு வெயிலில் உழ முடியாது! அதான் வெள்ளி பார்த்தே உழுத் துவங்குவர்! அதே போல் ஆயர்களும், அன்று கறந்த பாலை ஆலயத்துக்குக் கொடுக்க வேணும்! அதனால் விடிவெள்ளியிலே எழுந்து விடுவார்கள்!

    பிராம்மணர்கள் சந்தி செய்வதால், அவர்கள் தான் Early Risers என்ற ஒரு "தோற்றம்" வந்து விடகிறது, பார்த்தீர்களா? :)

  24. @KRS: The way u r debaing about Kothai's original "kulam" is amusing.
    Did u do the same about Seetha?
    No one does.
    They are ready to accept that she was an avatara found in the soil.
    If Janaka did a huge Yagna, people are ready to accept that He could have obtained a baby from the earth (hidden).
    Why can't they accept the same of Periyazhwar?
    Periyazhwar perhaps had the merit of a 1000 yajnas by his bhakti.
    Why is it that people can reason a baby found in a box underground, and yet cant reason a baby found under a tulasi plant??

    Just like Seetha, Kothai is an avataara.
    Why do we need to talk of "birth parents" when there were none?
    And, she came down to earth, with a hidden motive of experiencing Periazhwar's parental love. :)
    In my view, it is futile to debate on her caste.
    She wanted to be Periazhwar's by birth.
    But, she went into role-play mode and became a gopi.

    Ha ha! Probably true! Coz, Sita was in pre historic times, Like Ramaavatara, Seethavataara!
    Kothai's case is not like that! She belongs to 7-9th CE! "Miracles" happen only very rarely during latter times! :) Will we believe if someone tells NOW that a girl was born yesterday under the soil opp to Karthigai Gopuram in Thiruvarangam? Same Logic!:)

    //Just like Seetha, Kothai is an avataara//

    Good! I am just saying the same thing but the other way around: Pl dont keep on calling Sita as an avatara! That alienates ppl to think that she is extraordinary and normal women cant be like her.

    //In my view, it is futile to debate on her caste//
    There is no such debate! The topic is only about பறை! பறை leads to the analysis of that word and in turn leads to her anukaaram, where she assumes herself as Idaichi! As simple as that!

    That's what i meant to imply too!
    If Rama and Sita, even as avataaras, lived like normal human beings and went through the hardships, and we can still accept them as avataara, then why cant we do the same about Kothai?

  45. For 'avant garde', a good dic may pl b referred to.

    To me, ur post s 'a v'.

    Mightn't b so to others!

    The word 'paraiychi' in the title will no doubt refer to the caste among Tamils; and, as v all know, it s a vulgar word to refer to them.

    After that, 1 enters ur blog post proper and comes to know u r expatiating upon, what u call, anugaram in Sanskrit, or pavanai, in Tamil.
    U r saying she played on the percussion instrument of indigenous Tamils, parai, so u call her paraiychi. So also, u employ the word idaichi, another vulgar word for another ppl !

    R the Srivilliputhur Periyaazhwaar lived 000 of yrs ago and that SV u hav visited same? Everything intact and compact for millennia? U r leading me to the garden pinpoint ! 

    Neither u nor I can b categorical abt religious history. Such histories r mere legends, all conjectures and exaggerations.

    As I type GPB s with me. What s written therein are hagiographies of azhwaars. Not biographies. U may b aware of the accusation against Tamil Vaishnavite Brahmins that by deifying the Towering Tamil religious mystics and sage poets, they prevented all historical research abt the poets. Research s possible only if v see them as humans!

    Even here 1 commenter is indulging in the same gimmick, isn’t she? She s asking us to c them as avataaras. Not humans who lived in the caste ridden society of ours! The idyllic commenter s not aware, or pretends not to know that both Thirumazhiyisai aazhwaar and Thiruppaanaatru suffered caste barbs !

    So, because of these ppl 2day v don’t even know when they lived !

    U deny Ram Sita Azhwaars the status of avataaaras. Ok. Humans. In that case, y not write on their castes?

    It will b interesting to read a blog post from u which treats them as humans tracing them thro their own words instead of relying on hagiographies. U hav traced parai and its intricate meanings ! U r a scholar or at least, interested in the Towering Twelve !

    May consider my request!

    You definitely cannot expect a "pure biography" from a 10th century collection. It wud all be mixed. This is true everywhere on Christ or Kothai or Kings or even the recent personalities! When Sun TV and Jaya TV can show the same news from two different stands even in this age, compare the collections from 10 centuries back!
    So its upto the seeker, to collect and stratify data! The data sources themselves cant be blamed!

    Religious account of azhwars may be deifying that they were born as "amsams" of the Lord and some even at the start of kaliyuga! But still we have the historical research that azhwars were from early 5th CE to 9th CE! So, no one had prevented this research as such! Some ppl dont want to accept it, thatz all! :)

  52. Ur reply on hagiographies.
    It is well known that on religious icons and saints, and others venerable figures, only hagiographies were written. The intention is religious but my point is not that at all. Rather, that hagiographies, in the case of all religions, have made the adventurous scholars not to enter into historical research abt these figures. For, it would be facing the public opprobrium. It is blasphemy. such graphies are needed to make the religion attractive to popular imagination.

    Scholars fear for life. In Islam, direct killing for blasphemy. In other religion, indirect warning is sent.
    So, your statement that nobody has prevented anyone to research into aazhwaars, is half truth. Because, prevention does not mean by diktat only: it can be indirect and through a variety of subtle ways. While boasting that it is a tolerant religion, Hindu religion can still deploy indirect disapprovals. One is public opprobrium.

    In the recent controversy raised by the biography on MK Gandhi, no one is bold to say that a biographer, if he has reliable sources, can write what he infers and it is allowed in a open democracy like ours.

    So, when there are icons, religious or social, it is not direct prevention but undercurrent message is passed: Beware of going against the grain!

    Aazhwaars were unknown humans, who minded their own devotion to their God, except in the case of a few who became popular by taking up the religion openly like Thirumangai aazhwaar. Obscurity, not popularity, was their way. When they lived, no one cared whether they are amsams of perumal 100 of years passed by till a Brahminl accidently heard a recitation of a few paasurams from T.Mozhi by some passersby. Rest is history. From then onwards, the unknown aazhwaars have been made into amsams, and further, Nammaazhwaar as creater of a new siththaantham. All aazhwaars, many of whom did’t know each other, even if they were contemporaries, as in the cases of Thirumangai and Thodarippodi, appear to propagate the same theology of saranakathi !

    All this amounted to appropriation of the aazhwaars fitting into a new system, and divinity is hoisted upon them; depriving them of ordinary human status. People thenceforward never took them as mere devotional poets but amsams of Perumaal, hence beyond criticism albeit positive, and not subject to historical research. No wonder, no one probed. So, the act of deification that was responsible either directly or indirectly.
    U stopped at intention etc. I want u to come out of that; and treat them as humans and give them castes. When Nambillai could do it, why not you?

    It is from his avathaarikai to his padi that I came to know that brahmins treated Nammaazhwaar as sutra and refused him the right to write hymns on God. Suthrannakku kadavulaip patri paada thakuthi kidaiyaathu. So, the aazwaars had castes. They suffered the caste barbs.

    Thirumangai aazhwaar was insulted by the followers of Sambanthar saying that saffron dress was for Brahmin saamiyaars only. They meant a kallar cant be a saamiyaar. Vedic brahmins refused service to Thirumaziyisai aazhwaar and stopped recitation of Vedas lest it would be audible to the ears of the panchamar who was this aazhwaar. The story of Thiruppaanar u well know.

    I find you swinging like pendulum. On the one hand, you write so much on their divinity. On the other hand, you don’t want to accept some raw but bitter facts (as u softepeddle). On the yet more side, you don’t accept them as avataaras saying they subjected themselves to human laws.
    If you don’t care about Brahmins and their hagiographies, don’t suppress history, at least that history which comes out from their paasuraams and from some indomitable aachaariyaars like Nambillai.

    //All this amounted to appropriation of the aazhwaars fitting into a new system, and divinity is hoisted upon them; depriving them of ordinary human status//

    I disagree!
    Azhwars are human, yet their poetry is divine!

    So, Institutionalization has its own merits and de-merits! It all depends on the motive & where we stop it!

    Hagiography is very limited! Itz a byproduct of Institutionalization! You cannot avoid it 100%!
    But nothing prevents us from bypassing Hagiography and approaching azhwars as fellow beings and analyze their life and poetry! You can do it even in blogs! Tell me when you are starting, Amalan? :)

    //U stopped at intention etc. I want u to come out of that; and treat them as humans and give them castes. When Nambillai could do it, why not you?//

    It all depends on the project objective! I am clear abt my objective :)
    The intention is not caste-fixing for each azhwar! Itz already well known from which castes they came from!
    The intention is to go deep and see, how they were able to transcend and come up, render soulful poems, cultivate the heart, and offer it in love! Understanding their lives is important - caste is just one item in their life!

    //It is from his avathaarikai to his padi that I came to know that brahmins treated Nammaazhwaar as sutra and refused him the right to write hymns on God//

    //Thirumangai aazhwaar was insulted by the followers of Sambanthar saying that saffron dress was for Brahmin saamiyaars only//

    Do u have proof for this?

  63. Still I have not seen u getting me right.

    I am not at all entering into the point that their poetry is divine; whether the hagiographies are alarmingly high or mildly low, etc and whether they serve a purpose or two.

    I can take aazhwaards as religious mystics and, on another plane, the corner stone of Srivaishnavism, esp of Thengalai. But here, I am divagated from all the religious stuff.

    The so-called stuff is beyond my purview. U r going back to that again and again, as if I am not aware of that. I never wear my religion upon my sleeves for daws to pect at (parodying a quote from Hamlet)

    Religion is different from reason. Under reason comes plain history or history proper.

    When Aazhwaars got appropriated, their history was written only by the religious men only in so far as it suits the religion or serve their religious purposes. No argument here, like ‘less or more’, or ‘comparison with Saivism; U r doing that !

    Comments are free but facts are sacred. Under facts, religion does not come at all. Religious history, if they are written by the religious men concerned, are not accepted by historians as valid history. Even Neela Kanta Shastry says he relied on Thirumangai aalwaar’s paasuram to infer that the aazwaar was a contemporary of Mahendra Pallavan and both were good friends. It was this aazhwar who made this Pallava king to renovate many Vaishnavite temples and buit one new (parameeshwara vinnagram or Vaikuntah Perumaal Koil as the locals today call it). Sastry makes this observation in his Pallava Chapter. See, here, the historican rejected the GPB as a reliable source for history.

    So, in understaing me, u may completely take a different position, that of, secular. If you don’t want to, no prob.

    I don’t want to write on that. I only say such writings were and are always rare: from people like secular historians.

    No history proper has been written on them. History, if at all, is that which says, as you have pointed out, certain things insofar as they help the religion, here Srivaishnavism.

    Not mine, but general opinion of scholars, excepting those who are in the religion, is that religious standing given to Aazhwaars have made them 'divine' which means, beyond the approach of ordinary scholarly hands.

    That is a grand pity. 1000 of years have gone w/o history. What a huge loss to Tamilians !

  64. Continued from pre mge

    U need not write coz u r sooooo ooozing into the religious part that will disqualify you from the secular look on the Towering Twelve Tamils. Lets not fear that taking such a look is infra dig to aazwaars!

    But others can, we shd encourage if v can.

    Recently the archaeologist or historian Nagasamy brought out a book on Ramanujar in which he made the same complaint in the introduction. He says that by extreme deification and making him an avtar, the TN has lost the history of this interesting personality of the 10th century. Nagasamy's research led him to the conclusion that the figure Ramanujar could be a fiction and all that written on and about him, is tissue of lies, mostly! That expectantly received adverse criticism from the religious quarters. The book is in English, available in libraries.

    Similarly, the achaaryaars pounced on Rajaji for his daring opinion that there never existed a woman poet called Andaal; and all that is attributed to her as poerty was written by Periyaazhvaar himself taking upon the paavanai of a love-lorn woman. Rajaji was condemned.

    I don’t say he did research. Rather, he voiced an opinion as it occurred to him on reading Thiruppavai and Naachiyaar Thirumozhi.

    Thus, u see the religious men always ensure that their 'imagination' is accepted as true; and all other attempts at contrary imagination are nullified and intimidated into silence. Because they fear the elaborate reticulum they spun around certain figures to weave a web of their religion may suddenly become questionable!

    Don’t drag religion here and tell me abt divinity of aazhwaars etc. I am just representing a secular grievance. Concluded.

    (I don’t have time for blog writing nowadays, and the ones I began, was closed thanks to my professional preoccupations and coaching my sons in their professional studies.)

    I will not reject any part under the garb of religion or fake abt it...

  66. //Recently the archaeologist or historian Nagasamy brought out a book on Ramanujar in which he made the same complaint in the introduction//

    I read the book!
    Dr. Nagasamy hiding under the name of "archaeology" has written his most "dumbest" work ever! No evidences given, Just his own fantasy! They can be easily disproved, bcoz illogic fails by itself! :)
    Dr. Nagasamy's long built scholarship is falling like a pack of cards with so much illogic! Pity!

    But that does not mean, I oppose such books! Ppl can come with fanciful theories, but they shd remember that there are some more ppl, who will come with fanciful counter theories :)
    My concern is: the core of the truth gets swayed in such fancies!

    //he achaaryaars pounced on Rajaji for his daring opinion that there never existed a woman poet called Andaal; and all that is attributed to her as poerty was written by Periyaazhvaar himself taking upon the paavanai of a love-lorn woman. Rajaji was condemned//

    I will not condemn Rajaji. He has the right of his view!
    But Rajaji shd understand that he has also the duty to substantiate and evidence his theory, not throwing some bits and pieces, here and there!

    If someone who is concerned about "true history", he shd take the right scientific approach and evidence! Not bringing in "counter-fantasy" like the same old religious ppl! Then whatz the difference? :)

    //1000 of years have gone w/o history. What a huge loss to Tamilians!//

    If you put a vote to the general public tamilians, they will come out saying, itz not at all a loss, they dont care, they have other things to care! :)))

    But itz really a pity, that we could afford to lose a 1000 years, with no proper history!
    My viewpoint is: That history should be traced back, not just "re-written" to counter someone!

  75. I hav just read ur rejoinder.

    Dr Nagasamy has no historical evidence to prove, hasn't he? He is exploiting his name and fame to spread his spurious theory, isnt he?

    Rajaji has no historical evidence to prove, hasnt he?

    But why Rajaji has a right to say what he felt; but Nagasamy shouldnt have.

    The point in my previous post is not about both; but about the people who dare to say things differently, much to the dismay of hagiographists.

    When you want to accept and respect hagiographers, you ridicule the other side, arent u?

    U r attributing motive to Nagasamy, but not to Rajaji. I wonder why.

    Be that as it may. My further point is that the hagiographers do more harm than good to history writing, a point I have elaborately explained in my pre posts.

    As of now, only hagiogrphies exist: that is a pity.

  76. "I reserve my right to read azhwars in "whole" and not in "selective parts"!
    I will not reject any part under the garb of religion or fake abt it...
    But at the same time, will "focus" on the heart of azhwars than the nails of azhwars!

    "

    My point is again missed. No one is saying you should not read Azhwaars the way you want. I am saying that the Azhwaars can be taken by others in the way they want.

    If you claim to read them whole, then you should take the nails also. Focus should be equally on both heart and nails.

    Remember it is the nails which give extraordinary dazzle to Srivaishnavism.

    Indeed, each and every Srivaishnaite boasts today that their religion has the nails, and boldly wear them as badges of honor.

    What are those nails I am speaking. There may be many. A few in the context of Thirumazhiyisai, Thirumangai, Thiruppanaar and even Nammaazhwaar have been referred to by me.

    I mean, the casteists slurs. How the brahmins were silenced and asked to accept Nammaazhwaar.

    The nails are indeed not nails, RAVI. They are the gilt edged securities to the religion.

    No one can boast to have read Aazhwaars in whole if he refuses to accept the nails, or trying to sweep them under the carpet as 'not to be focussed'!

    Long live Srivaishnavism.

  78. You r so much concerned about the reputation of brahmins.

    It is a concern not expected of anyone who keep the aazhwaars high and above all.

    Brahmins are not superior to aazhwaars. Indeed, since the time NDP came to be composed, and came to be treated on par with sanskrit vedas, calling 'Dravida vedam', the Tamil brahmins of Srivaishnavites prostrate before aazhwaars.

    A SRIVAISHNAVITE CANT BE A BRHAMIN IN WORHSIP OF AAZHWAARS.

    A SRIVAISHNAVITE has certain qualities enumerated by achaariyaars; and anyone who possess them, is a srivaishnavite.

    So, no concern, or special treatment to anyone, let alone a brahmin.

    I write this to remind you, because you r saying about aazhaawars the brahmins who stopped recitation of vedas when Thirumazhiyisai aazhwaars was coming within the audible range turned to be the followers of the same aazhwaars after the incident you cited.

    Yes, you are on the dot. But, y to stop the story there, in order that the reputation of brahmins not be sullied Ravi? What is your intention ?

People of the town rushed to the hall and told the brahmins there, to accord due respect to the aazhwaar as per the sashtras to a saint. A yaagam under a vedic scirpure requires to be conducted for aazhwaar.

    The brahmins refused. There followed an interesting story of the perumaal coming directly.

  81. Receiving caste slurs or barbs all along wherever he went, the aazhwaar finally emerged at Kudanthai. There, too, he was talked about as a dalit with the pretensions of a saint. I say this because the act of throwing away all his books in the River happened here.

    The brahmins who followed him, are those who were involved in both incidents: on the way and in the town hall.

    Because in the first episode, Aazhwaar proved himself. In the next episode of the hall, Lord Sundararaja Perumaal turned up to the city hall when the aazhawaar ordered him to show Himself in the chest of the aazhwwaar. The darshan was given when aazhwaar opened his chest to the brahmins.

    The brahmins first feared, but quickly realised that it was Sundararaja perumaal.

    There is a paasurams - commanding Sundarajaja perumaal to come and show. Next thanking him for that. U wont find it in NDP.

    The said brahmins at once threw away all their brahminical hang up and followed aazhwaars as humble ordinary followers. Such brahmins were a few.

    Aazhwaar proceeded to Kudanthai with such few brahmins and a humungous following of Non brahmins.

    Azhwaar finally got frustrated and threw all his books into the River Kaveri. Two came ashore which are now in NDP: Thiruchanda viruththam and Nanmugan Thiruvanthathi.

    The Brahmins still did not allow him inside the temple. An incident happened in which the Azwaar made the Lord to turn towards his side.

    Even today, the Srivaishnavites say that in Kudanthai, the Lord is not in the same pose as you see in other temples, but in a turned pose in an effort to please aazhwaar.

    Similar episode happened in Thirukkurungudi for the first and foremost aalwaars who predated all the 12 Azhwaars, namely Nambaaduvaan, also a dalit, whose story was beautifully written by none other than Parasara pattar. The book is Kaisika Puranam. Hav u read it? If not yet, dont do because it is a NAIL which you wont like. It is with me to be read on all festival and other important days.

    Thirumazhisai Aazhwaar passed away after the River incident at Kudanthai.

    Hundreds of years had to pass for him to be raised to the level of a saint, far and above all of us. Thirupaanar did not suffer that ignominy because during his life time itself he was raised following the incident involving Loga saaranga muniver.

    Between Aaazhwaars and Brahmins we must vote for Azhwaars only !

    Of the meeting between Sambanthar and Thirumangai, I rely on aachaariyaars who cite a paasuram of Thirumangai to show such a meeting took place.

    I know that paasuram. U want it?

    No Brahmins or Brahministic Hagiographies for me!
    If u have read my articles on karma or karma yogam, u might know! Even this post had wrath from so many "puritans" incl. friends in the email.

    If you read Dr.Nagasamy's book, Brahminizing Ramanuja was his intention! He clearly states in his "conclusion" that Ramanuja was a great person of "vedantic thinking" and all his efforts to propagate tamizh vedam & azhwars are hagiographical. No azhwar focus, only vedantic focus - Thatz Dr. Nagasamy for you! :)

    Dont write like this.

    Castes are divisionary, no doubt; but they are impositions on us, willy-nilly. We live with them, at the same time, ensuring we dont hurt anyone with which.

    In the context of dalit saints of both Vaishnavism and Saivism, their castes ought to be mentioned in order that we all share their agonies and rever them.

    For e.g. the tribal status of Thirukannappar and his bizarre ways of pujas enhance the spirituality of the whole episode, thereby the importance of the religion itself.

    Similarly, with dalit saints of Vaishnavism. Today, it is an abhorrence to mention their castes, but still, not mentioning them divests the religion of its interesting principle of equality.

    I said earlier, the Srivaishnavites are proud to wear the nails as their badges of honour. Because, the nails proclaim to the world that their religion is proud to have the principle of equality by annihilating the castes of these saints and raising to a higher level.

    In the case of Thirumazhiyisai aazhwaar, no saint has been honored with the title Pran, which is analogous with the God Himself, than this aazhwaar.

    Let us not deprive the Srivaishnavites of this pride, which I consider legitimate, just and noble.

    Long live aazhwaars and long live the prnciple of equality.

    "Social pariah" , "pariah state", "global pariah" are well know terms in the English media

Early Risers! :)

இன்றும் பல்பம் சாக்பீஸ் பார்த்தா பத்மநாபன் ஞாபகம் வருகிறது;
